My wife's newest gun is the Bersa Thunder 380.
We both fired this model .380 ACP gun at a friend's ranch several weeks ago. My wife immediately liked the feel of the gun and for the most part decided that this would be her next gun.
My wife is loudly opposed to any Pink Guns and made it clear that she would be getting one in all (tactical) black. When it came down to it, this Bersa in "DUOTONE" is very attractive.
We got a good price for it. I wish the darn thing would come in more than just a cardboard box, but I suppose for the price you can't complain. I've been given the directive to make a box for it. I have an aluminum box that I will line with foam for this gun.
I like firing this gun as much as she does. This would make for a very nice defensive weapon in the concealed-carry category for small and medium framed people. It is a pleasure to shoot. My wife is now recommending the gun to female friends.
At one time my wife would not have considered having more than one carry gun, but now she has Seen The Light And Can't Get Enough Guns®. Or something like that. She has shuffled her carry guns around according to functional purpose. That's my girl!
She has named this gun Lana, after the character on Archer. We love watching Archer together. It is incredibly funny - buy it at Amazon. You won't regret it.

"...but now she has Seen The Light And Can't Get Enough Guns®." Haha! Addictive buggers, aren't they?
A very nice and serviceable handgun. The range rental of this is always a goto favorite. It has had many rounds thrown down range and has minimal care. The left side decocking lever I have replaced twice. The magazine disconnect safety spring once. Given the service of that gun I cannot fault it in the least.
And now a TV series to search for on Amazon prime. Sigh. I WAS going to put a dcaek kit on a M&P tonight!
PH: I'm delighted that she always has a "next gun to get."
Keads: Thank you for the feedback on reliability. The gun might very well have a great cost to service ratio.
You are going to love Archer. There are a ton of little things that you catch watching it the second time. We watch it here over and over.
Nice looking heater. I really Luke two tone pistols.
Like...stupid auto correct
My favorite kind of porn.
Beauty!
There is the Bersa Thunder Plus too. More capacity and pretty much the same Pistol. I think you and the wife will be pleased with this acquisition. Yes, I am taking a break from the M&P modifications!
Archer is truly sick. And hilarious!
Glad she likes it.
North,
Congrats to your wife on her new investment! Looks Sweet, I may have to add this to my want list.
How does it breakdown for cleaning? Easy?
I agree with Guffaw on Archer. I like the older lines of the Bersa. For some reason, I've always wanted an older style Walther PPK.
Sandy, Not to steal North's thunder *ahem* the Bersa is dirt simple to breakdown and clean.
I'm a "longtime" (5 year!) owner of a Firestorm .380, which is just a special edition Thunder. It really is a fantastic gun. I've tossed tens of thousands of rounds downrange with mine with no breakage, FTF, or FTE. It'll eat anything you put through it, too.
ShepK and Sweetie: The gun is attractive. And very comfortable in my hand and my wife says it is comfortable in her's.
Guffaw and 45er: Archer is a "must have" on DVD for us. We (even my son) will watch it when we have a bit of family time.
The Bersa is less $$ than a PPK.
Sandy: My friend Keads is right - take-down is simple. Flip a leaver, slip the slide off. Easy to clean.
Laura: Thank you for that info! I hope to have this gun for the long haul.
Now she just has to get to the range and practice with it! :-)
Nice looking little shooter.
Thanks Old NFO - It is getting harder and harder to get time to get to the range.
Flier389: If you ever have the chance to get your mitts on one to shoot, it is a nice little gun.
Neat little guns, I have toyed with getting one. They make one in 9mm it's a tad larger but they are hard to find.
I've owned one for years and it works every time.
Now, it's not a superduperdoesitallwondergun; but it's excellent value-for money and they cribbed a good design (and left the folderol out). AFAIK, they are darned hard to break.
The list of PPK-offpring is pretty long, from Astra's "Constable" to the Makarov. Tracing that family tree would make a good blog post.
Thanks for popping by, Rx. I wouldn't mind owning a PPK or PPK/S myself. I've always liked the feel of the gun.
If anyone is set on the size and style of a PPK, but not set on the manufacturer (Walther) the Bersa here is a great shooter.
