Woke to a four a.m. percussive cacophony.
No broken windows. Shingles need to be inspected. Nap will be needed later.

Gun Porn: Smith&Wesson Bodyguard 380

.380 ammunition, rubber-filled hollow point.

VERY slim, easy to pocket carry!

Built-in laser.
I had it long enough to take a few pictures. :-) This is a new gun for my lovely Mrs. North. It should make it to the range very soon. She will likely fire a couple dozen rounds and compare it directly to her Ruger LCP. She already likes the feel of the unfired gun more than the LCP, and loves having reasonable sights to use.
This .380 has a built-in laser, but I am (when I'm done typing) adding a laser to her LCP.

I'm VERY crabby!!
From an email from my friend Maura:
Fresh crab is better, but you can use the canned.
Put the cans of crab in the fridge over night. It needs to be cold
( important ).
Heat about 1/2" of vegetable oil in your pan
Mix together:
Crab, drained thoroughly - pick over for cartilage
About 6 saltines, crushed and crumbled, with a few in reserve.
1 large egg
Old Bay
Splashes of Worcestershire
A squirt of yellow mustard
If the mixture seems like it is too mushy, add more crumbled saltines
until it holds together into a cake form.
Fry 4-6 minutes per side. Don't mess with them, they will fall apart if
you do. When browned, flip.
Drain on paper towels.
Same recipe and technique if using flake surimi.

Dead Alive
Hot Cold.
Light Dark.
Love Hate.
Yin Yang.
Opposites. Inevitably I will think of this when I am cleaning the Ruger MkIII 22/45. Why? Because assembly is the opposite of take-down. And I have to be all Zen about this particular reassembly. If I'm in a hurry and not calm, it seems like the gun wants to work against me.
I've reassembled this gun scores of times, but once I get a little frustrated, the hammer will not fall forward and I'll struggle to reassemble. And I'll get even more frustrated. And swear a lot.
So I have to be Relaxed instead of Frustrated and everything goes together just right. Opposites.
Is it odd that I play Queen's Break Free when I clean guns? :-)

Every Day Carry
There are a lot of people that wonder why I'm always walking around with my pants around my ankles - this is why. This is part of my Every Day Carry. If you are ever in the need of a tool, just look for the guy with pockets that drag on the ground.
Actually to everyone's relief, I Every Day Carry this in my truck. In this little 12" tool bag stuffed under the back seat:
Now I'm thinking about other tools that I should carry in my truck for the sake of utility, or TEOTWAWKI. What tools do you carry?
I also have jumper cables, flares, bandages and other things in my 'emergency' bag:
I like the utility of these bags. I have a bag stuffed with a tow strap, a cargo net, bungie cords, and tie-down straps. Too ugly to photograph, though...

Help Lila!
Lila over at the Total Survivalist Libertarian Bitch Fest (love that!) needs a little advice/help with selling some guns. Perhaps you can go there and help, or post a link.
Okay. So I need some advice from you lovely gentleman with your vast gun knowledge and incredible amounts of experience in the buying, selling, and trading of said guns. I am young, female, and new to this shooting stuff and Hubby is in the arming for a purpose rather than collecting part of things so we are both completely out of our depth.
A friend is trying to sell part of his collection to aid a grown daughter as she opens her own business. He has worked with my guy for a while and because I am "internet savvy" wanted help trying to sell his guns. They are listed on Guns America. We managed to sell one in the past few months. Three others remain.
The big daddy is a Connecticut Special Launch Edition 20 ga. Side by Side by RBL valued at $12,000
He is asking $8,500. Mint condition.
Then is the K22 6 shot S&W Revolver, Not mint but close. Asking $900
The last is a Browning Challenger .22 made in 1971. Mint condition, never fired, original box. He is asking $800.
I recommended taking them to gun shows and taking the Connecticut to Bass Pro for at the very least a nicely documented appraisal from their fine gun staff. He is a bit stubborn and short on time though so they sit on GA and wait. Thoughts? Ideas? What can we do? Places to list them? I feel awful because he asked for my help but I told him I have no idea what to do beyond listing them for sale.
