Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.

I'm trying to figure out what the best way to carry is. I haven't found a holster that seems right. It's too bad that they don't have a 2 day trial period to wear a holster to see how it works for you before you commit to buying one. Do you have any good suggestions? I don't live near a large city, so gun shops around me don't have many choices.
Rose: That is as tough of a question to answer as "what is the best gun for me". Much depends on what you wear, how tight your clothing might be, etc.
My wife has a holster that she wears tucked in her belt. At first she wore it at the 4:00 position. Then she discovered that she felt more comfortable with it at 2:00. This is for street clothes.
She jogs with a different holster. She wears a SmartCarry holster for jogging. She picked that from choices on-line. Didn't like it on day one, but learned how to adjust it and has liked it ever since.
